God’s Wedding Ring from Joni and Friends

“So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide.”
Genesis 22:14

My wedding ring has seen a lot of abuse over the years I’ve been wearing it. Because I can’t feel my fingers, it gets knocked around and battered. Recently, Ken looked at that scarred up ring and said, “Let me take this to the jewelers and get it fixed.” So for seven days I was without my ring.

I came into the office the next day to face a desk piled high with work. Wedged between the piles was a little red box. A coworker explained that it was a gift from several Koreans, visiting while I was out of the office. I smiled but didn’t take time to open the box. I was devoting all my energy to preparing for a message I had to give at a big banquet in Dallas, Texas that weekend. Suddenly I looked down at my bare finger and thought, “Oh bother, I don’t want to go on a trip without my wedding ring! What shall I do?”

A couple of days later, as I was about to leave for my trip, I was hurriedly tidying up my desk. I spotted the red box and sensed a strong urge to open it. My friend unwrapped it for me–and I sat stunned. There, glittering in the middle of velvet was a lovely gold ring with a dazzling diamond-like stone. A wedding ring! At just the right time, in a moment of need, a gift was opened, a ring was placed on my finger, and the wattage of God’s glory blazed brightly.

How good the Lord is to provide for us at the moment of need. And just as He once provided Abraham with a ram for a sacrifice up on Mount Moriah, so He provided for you and me in our great need, with the sacrifice of the Lamb of God on Mount Calvary.

Heavenly Father, Abraham was right when he named that altar, “The Lord Will Provide.” In my Lord Jesus, You have provided so richly for me…through the days of my life and into eternity.

Blessings,
